There will be a Project Board/Project Steering Committee (PB), which will be established as the overall authority for the Project and responsible for its initiation, direction, review and eventual closure. Within the confines of the Project, the Board is the highest authority. The PB plays a critical role in project monitoring and evaluations by quality assuring these processes and products, and using evaluations for performance improvement, accountability and learning. It ensures that required resources are committed and arbitrates on any conflicts within the project or negotiates a solution to any problems with external bodies. Based on the approved Annual WorkPlan, the PB can also considers and approve the quarterly plans (if applicable) and also approve any essential deviations from the original plans.
In order to ensure ultimate accountability for the project results, PB decisions will be made in accordance to standards that shall ensure management for development results, best value money, fairness, integrity, transparency and effective international competition.
The members of the PB will be UNDP TURKEY, TUSIAD, TURKONFED and the Government of Turkey.
Under the authority of the PB, the day to day operations of the project will be accomplished by TURKONFED and TUSIAD. TURKONFED and TUSIAD will appoint a Director/Project Manager, who has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis within the constraints laid down by the PB. The Project Manager’s prime responsibility is to ensure that the project produces the results specified in the project document, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
The project will enable a Business for SDGs Platform, which will have a Board of Executives, and a President from private sector, who will be appointed from among business people with a proven track record of impactful business operations and sustainable development related work.
UNDP will offer project support functions and development advise for project administration, management and technical support to the Project Manager as required by the needs of the Project or Project Manager.
UNDP CO will have a coordinated and collaborative focus with IICPSD and IRH to partnerships with the Turkish private sector, including for the efforts to benefit multiple countries in the region.
